The New Broadway cast of Hair gives their audience an energy filled performance. When I saw the performance this past January, I felt the energy from the moment the tribe walked on stage singing “Aquarius” all the way through til the on stage dance party full of audience participation at the end.
According to a New York Times article, a high-definition video camera will now pick up the dance party videos making them available online. Once online viewers will be able to tag themselves and share the videos with anyone they want to. Personally, I think things like this are social media at its best. I love being able to share the experience theater can bring to you. While there is nothing like seeing a performance live, if you can transfer the same energy you find there it might get more people involved with what you are about. While I don’t think this method would work the same way for every show, I do feel it is a perfect fit for Hair.
